The Pasar Klewer (”Hanging Market”, a 2-storey department) is the best place to get original batik and, Pasar Klewer doesn’t have as much rubbish as Yogya’s big Pasar Beringhardjo. Children’s clothes are unbeliavably cheap, although bargaining is obligatory here and if you’re buying cap/imprint batik look over carefully for holes! With striped, colorful patterns, “lurik” is an hot item.
